It was an honor to march with the team at the Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council on the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the landmark act protecting those with disabilities from being discriminated against. It’s hard to believe that it was only passed in 1990 given the significant strides people with disabilities have made; this is a group dedicated to advocating for themselves and recognizing the value of each person.
This anniversary is particularly important to us given the tenuous state of disability rights and funding in our country today. As an organization dedicated to providing support to groups that are often disenfranchised, days like these remind us of the power we can have when we support one another.
